Book of Karen

September 26, 2018

The Book of Karen is being written right now. So far it’s been a riveting book filled with romance, tragedy, and triumph.

At the beginning of the book, the main character meets a great guy and they have a great romance. Eventually, they marry, have two kids, and build their dream house. Life is pretty normal.

Suddenly, tragedy hits as the great guy develops a debilitating disease that ultimately takes his life. Through all of it, the author of the book brings in an amazing cast of characters to love and support the main character and her family.

There is of course sadness, grief, and eventually some healing. But just when things begin to settle, chapter 43 starts. We call this chapter “The Flood.”

The opening lines of the chapter find our main character and the two kids quickly trapped in the dream home as water rises to knee-deep and the doors stick closed because of the pressure.

Heroes quickly enter the scene to open the door and get the family across waist-high water to safety. Police and emergency crews arrive to assess the situation and neighbors take the family in for the night while we wait for the water to recede.

Morning comes and clean up begins . . .

The amazing cast of supporting characters step up again to help the family through yet another tragedy. Neighbors, church family, and complete strangers wield hammers, haul out flooring and sheetrock, and sift through belongings.

The reader doesn’t despair because she knows the author of the book personally and knows His writing style. She knows the author is going to show provision, and blessings, and surprise endings. This is going to be a story of mercy, and grace, and God’s redeeming love.

I don’t know how the story ends, but I am patiently awaiting VICTORY!
